Do You Remember?

We love because He first loved us. We know Him, because He first knew us. Way before we heard His voice, He was calling us in ways we did not know...

Verse:
Do you remember the time
A friend gave sudden comfort to your soul?
Do you remember the time
You found that extra strength to reach your goal?
Do you remember the time
A peace you can't explain came to console?
That was Him, that was Him,
Do you remember?

Do you remember the time

Your broken path still somehow made it through?
Do you remember the time
A whisper brought you hope out of the blue?
Do you remember the time
You found the best without a single clue?
That was Him, that was Him,
Do you remember?

Chorus:
That was Him, that was Jesus
Holding tight upon your hand;
That was Him, bringing you through
What you'd never understand.
That was Him, that was Jesus
Guiding through each circumstance.
Do you remember?
Do you remember?

I Will Lift Up My Eyes

This song--written for the Shalom G2 ensemble to sing on May 30, 2010, in UECM--reflects a spontaneous spirit of praise. The singer does not pause to ponder deep lyrics or climb dramatic musical leaps. Yet he sings with passion...that God alone is glorious and worthy of his praise. Find other songs by G2 here.

Verse 1:
I will lift up my eyes into Your glory,
I will lift up my voice to sing Your praise,
And as I lift up my eyes into Your radiance,
I can't help but say...

Chorus:
You...alone are glorious.
You...alone we praise.
You...alone we'll follow,
Follow You all of our days.

Verse 2:

I will lift up my eyes to see Your beauty,
I will life up my hands in joyous praise,
And as I lift up my life, a living offering,
I can't help but say...

Verse 3:
I will lift up my eyes with joy to Calvary,
I will lift up my heart in endless praise,
And as I lift up my hopes upon Your promises,
I can't help but say...

A Mystery

College years let me learn a lot...but some things still remain a mystery, no matter how much I might learn. My thanks to the friends who commissioned and inspired me to write this song =)

Verse:
I learn of many mysteries
Humanity has solved,
I learn of how each star can shine,
Of how the earth revolves.

I learn of how the rivers form,
Of how the oceans swell,
I learn of how each living thing
Forms homes within to dwell.

Pre-chorus:
But though I understand each part
Of mountain, sea, and land,
There's still one constant mystery
I cannot understand...

Chorus:
I cannot understand why You chose me,
Why You would for a worthless soul
Take death on Calvary.
I cannot understand how it can be,
Your love will always be a mystery.

Your Love

In this new year...no matter what may come and go...no matter what I might gain or lose...may I always know the love of God which knows no end.

When friends abound,
When family's near,
When love is new and dear,
I turn away,
And soon would lay
Aside the God I've found.

When friends forget,
When family's far,
When love wears pain and scar,
I then would cling,
And to Him bring
Demands of love and debt.

No matter friends,
Love, family...
Be near or far to me,

May I possess
And know as best
Your love which never ends.

A Sweeter Song

I have thought much about which composition to choose as my new year post. And this song...written long ago in the midst of heartache...finally emerged as the best choice. No matter what my foolishness might tend to do, may the new year bring me closer and closer to my Savior, as I live a lifesong of satisfaction and love to Him.

Verse:
I brought to You my foolish dreams
And threw them up to You,
Requesting that You faithfully
Make all of them come true.
"I'd do my best, You do the rest,"
As long as each of them comes true...

I brought to You a battered heart,

All torn beyond console,
Requesting that You faithfully
Redeem and make it whole.
You tore it more, and then restored
That sweeter song unto my soul...

C
horus:

A sweeter song I sing
Of all that's pure and true,
A song no man can bring
Though everything he do,
A song my life resounds,
A song of love profound,
A song of love I found,
When satisfied in You.
